What Ialuset cream is—and what it is not

Ialuset Hyaluronic Acid Cream 100g is a medical device manufactured by IBSA Pharma SAS (Antibes, France). According to IBSA, it is a wound-healing product indicated for the treatment of non-infected, weeping, or superinfected wounds, including leg ulcers. The manufacturer's instructions state explicitly: "Ne pas utiliser pour un usage cosmétique"—do not use for cosmetic purposes.

This product is not a daily facial moisturizer, hydrating serum substitute, or skincare primer. If you are looking for general information on hyaluronic acid as a skincare ingredient, see our separate article on hyaluronic acid molecular weight and benefits.

Identifying the exact product

The 100g format is available as a pressurized tube or pressurized canister (flacon pressurisé). The product label reads ialuset Crème. Confirm you have the correct format before use; IBSA also makes a 25g tube and sterile impregnated compresses (10×10 cm), which are separate presentations.

Composition

Per the IBSA official instructions, Ialuset Cream contains:

  • Active ingredient: Hyaluronic acid (sodium salt) 0.2%, obtained by biofermentation
  • Excipients: Cetearyl glucoside, oleic acid decyl ester, cetearyl alcohol and sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium cetearyl sulfate, glycerol, liquid sorbitol, sorbic acid, methyl and propyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium citrate dihydrate, water

According to IBSA, hyaluronic acid is the principal component of the dermal ground substance. The manufacturer states it acts at all phases of the wound-healing process, accelerates healing and re-epithelialization of skin lesions, and its hygroscopic properties maintain a moist environment favorable to tissue regeneration.

Indications

IBSA indicates Ialuset Cream as a wound-healing agent for:

  • Non-infected wounds
  • Weeping wounds
  • Superinfected wounds
  • Leg ulcers

Important: Infected wounds and chronic wounds require medical supervision. Do not self-treat these conditions without consulting a healthcare professional.

Directions for use

The following directions are reproduced from the IBSA official instructions:

  1. Perform routine wound-cleaning before each application.
  2. Apply the cream directly onto the wound in a layer approximately 2–3 mm thick, or deposit the cream onto a sterile gauze and apply the gauze to the wound.
  3. The dressing may be held in place with an appropriate bandage.
  4. Before renewing applications, clean the wound with physiological saline (normal saline).
  5. Frequency: 1 application per day, from the granulation (budding) phase through to complete healing.
  6. Do not apply the tip of the tube or pressurized canister directly onto the wound.
  7. For tube presentations: close the tube tightly after each use.

IBSA states: "L'évolution de la cicatrisation de votre plaie reste à l'entière appréciation de votre médecin"—the progress of wound healing remains entirely at your doctor's discretion. Follow up with your prescriber or wound-care professional throughout treatment.
